What is Dowsing?

What is Dowsing? Those unfamiliar with the term probably won't find much of value in consulting traditional sources like dictionaries or encyclopedias as those publications tend to be filled with entries that are incomplete and inaccurate giving limited descriptions ultimately casting Dowsing into the realm of myth and fairytale.

Collections that highlight the scoffers and skeptics want you to believe that no 'real scientific evidence' for Dowsing exists and are written by left-brain antagonists arguing "it doesn't make sense, therefore, it's not possible", or by those who don't want you to know what amazing gifts you possess for fear you might use them!

Thank goodness for the Internet as a search will turn up more and better information if you know where to look, but the best way to learn about Dowsing is to come to one of our Meetings and give it a try!

Hands-on experience will provide all the 'proof' necessary leading to the discovery that Dowsing is simply the ability to connect with the naturally occuring Energy Fields of the body-mind-spirit-earth connections we all possess opening the door to the wide array of purpose and possibility that Dowsing holds for us.

All people have abilities beyond what is termed the five senses and many have had unexpected or inexplicable experiences relating to them, but just don't know how to tap into these resources at will.

Fully 80
% of those who use metal L-rods for the very first time are successful in getting a response and the other 20% can usually get it with practice.

"Dowsers can detect
electromagnetic fields (dowsing)
because we're
electromagnetic beings.
The human body is one of the most sensitive instruments there is"

A little history.
Dowsing has been utilized by civilizations around the globe for thousands of years. The earliest cave drawing that appears to depict the use of Divining (Dowsing) tools was carbon dated to be at least 8000 years old and since that time clues and references have been left for us throughout history in every form of communication available to humankind.

A complete history is beyond the scope of this website, but for those who are interested in further research please see the 'Links' section to access a selection of the extensive information that has been recorded by our fellow Dowsers.

Tools/Definitions:
(mouse-over highlighted titles to see a picture)

~ L-rod - can be of any size and are made of stiff wire-- usually copper--though metal coat hangers and welding rods will work just as well. Used singly or as a pair to find water, ore, earth energy lines, etc.

~ Y-rod or Forked Stick - held in the same way these are traditionally used for finding water or other items inside the earth. A.K.A. 'Water Witching'.

~ Pendulum - can be as simple as a string with a weight tied to the end. It is used for asking 'yes or no' questions and in Map Dowsing (see below)

~ Bobber - a length of springy material--could also be cut from a tree branch--used for the same purposes as L-rods and Pendulums (above). A.K.A Wand.

~ Map Dowsing - allow one to Dowse a large area from a remote location using an actual or representative map. Used to find water, ore, treasure, lost persons or items, and determine the presence of unwanted entities or energies.

~ Geopathic Stress - flowing lines or standing waves of energy originating in and around the earth that are harmful to human health when occurring within living and working environments. Fault lines, fissures, underground water, sewer lines, EMF Pollution, and negative energy grids are a few of the causes.
